Data does little good unless it is available to support key decision makers as they guide the\u00c2\u00a0forward path of the enterprise. In this paper we look at some data integration challenges especially as\u00c2\u00a0they pertain to an organization&#8217;s need to achieve the full line-of-sight into all required data stores\u00c2\u00a0necessary for the best business decisions to be made. The classic CIA Triad requires confidentiality,\u00c2\u00a0integrity, and availability for data and information stored by an organization, and we consider how the\u00c2\u00a0following data management issues can impact the Triad:<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"><strong>Information Islands.<\/strong> Useful business data must be available to decision makers. We examine\u00c2\u00a0our own isolated business data and discuss how to tie that data into our overall information\u00c2\u00a0management framework.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"><strong>Investigations in a Vacuum.<\/strong> When different groups make copies of and perform analysis on\u00c2\u00a0centralized data, integrity problems can occur. We look at where this occurs within our own\u00c2\u00a0organization and our response.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"><strong>Audit Dilemmas.<\/strong> Another integrity problem exists when \u00e2\u20ac\u0153authoritative\u00e2\u20ac\u009d data actually exists as\u00c2\u00a0an information island; different groups using this data for analysis can result in contradictory\u00c2\u00a0answers to the same question. We examine how auditing tools can be used to uncover these\u00c2\u00a0islands.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"><strong>Disclosure Protection.<\/strong> Today, it is trivial to copy vast amounts of data surreptitiously using any\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">number of techniques.
